Taking Your Skincare On Holidays - Our Best Tips For Radiant Skin On The Road

advice tips & tricks Dec 17, 2023

Taking care of your skin while on holiday is important to ensure it remains healthy and radiant. Firstly, consider where you’re travelling to and plan accordingly. Is it a different climate? Are you camping? If you’re flying, do you have luggage restrictions? If any of these apply to you, here are some tips for managing your skincare routine while travelling:

  1. If you think it will be difficult to maintain your complete routine for your holiday, you may want to simplify things. Consider paring down your products to the essentials. This would include a cleanser, moisturiser and sunscreen.
  2. Invest in travel-size containers or purchase travel-size versions of your favourite products to save space and weight in your luggage.
  3. Be sure to protect your products and prevent spills and leaks in your luggage by popping your containers in resealable plastic bags.
  4. Take advantage of multi-tasking products. These hard-working skincare essentials save space in your luggage and time on your precious holiday. Some great examples of these products include moisturiser with an SPF or a cleanser that can also remove your makeup.
  5. If you’re travelling to a different climate you may need to adjust your skincare routine accordingly. For example, in dry climates, you might need a more nourishing moisturiser, while in humid climates you will probably need a lighter emulsion.
  6. It’s a good idea to have good hygiene front of mind when you’re on holiday. Keep your hands clean and avoid touching your face to minimise the risk of breakouts and skin irritations. It also reduces the risk of getting sick on your lovely vacation too.
  7. Stay hydrated. Be sure to drink plenty of water throughout your trip to keep your skin hydrated from the inside out.
  8. Don’t forget your sunscreen, no matter the climate. Regardless of your destination, sunscreen is essential. Our cosmeceutical grade sunscreens will protect you, not only from the sun, but from blue light too. Reapply regularly, especially if you are spending more time outdoors than you usually do.
  9. Of course, enjoying local cuisine is all part of the travel experience, but do be mindful of how your diet may affect your skin. Excessive consumption of alcohol and sugary foods can affect your skin.
  10. Plan for self-care. Try to take some time during your vacation to relax and pamper your skin. Consider a little mini-facial by exfoliating, deep cleansing and applying a sheet mask to bring out that lovely, healthy holiday glow.
  11. Take your treatments on the road with you. We all love to get away, but the downside of course is that we miss out on our regular in clinic treatments. A great way to avoid missing out on treatment time during your holiday is to take a LED Mask with you. We love our Trudermal Glow LED Mask as it comes with 3 wavelengths in one. This means you can tackle all skin concerns with a single device and keep your skin radiant on the go. It also comes with it's own travel bag and packs down completely flat so fitting in your luggage is a breeze - it's a real must have!

Bon voyage traveller! Xx
