Our Party Prep Timeline To Get Your Look On Point For The Holidays!

Uncategorized Dec 03, 2023

We have some great tips for preparing for the holiday party season to look and feel your best.

Leading up to the party season:

  1. Establish a good skincare routine: cleanse twice a day, exfoliate twice a week, moisturise morning and night and incorporate at least one active serum daily.
  1. Protect your skin: Be sure to include sunscreen in your skincare routine every day … rain, hail, or shine. Remember, a cosmeceutical grade sunscreen will not only protect you from the sun, but also from blue light, both can be very harmful and damaging to your skin.
  2. Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated from the inside out. It’s nice over summer to incorporate some hydrating foods into your diet too, such as cucumbers, watermelon, and oranges.
  3. Get plenty of sleep: On the nights when you’re not out partying the night away aim to get 7-9 hours of sleep per night. This is the time when your skin is repairing and regenerating. A good sleep also improves your brain function, immune system, and your mood.
  4. Avoid stress: Stress can take a toll on your skin, so try to manage stress through relaxation techniques like meditation, yoga, or deep breathing exercises. A great way to manage stress is to get some regular exercise.
  5. Eat a healthy diet: Incorporate plenty of fruits, vegetables, and healthy fats into your diet to give your skin the nutrients it needs to look its best.

Our Favourite: megaOmega - Omega 3 Supplement - boosts essential fatty acid intake to keep your skin hydrated, healthy, and strong.

  1. If you have any specific skin concerns, it’s always a good idea to get in touch with us here at the clinic. A few well-timed treatments can do wonders to give your skin that beautiful holiday glow.

In the week before your event:

  1. Use a mask: A day or two before your big event it’s a good idea to add a few extra steps into your skincare routine. After cleansing, exfoliate and then follow up with a mask. There are so many to choose from, but generally you will want to hydrate and brighten your skin to get that party glow. You can also incorporate eye masks for an added boost.

Our Favourite: Sothys Express Eye Patches to instantly freshen, smooth and lift your eye contour & Ultraceuticals B² Hydration Mask, a hydrogel peptide sheet to visibly plump and restore hydration.

  1. If you are lucky enough to have an LED mask for home, be sure to use it every second day in the week leading up to your big night out.
  2. Avoid trying new products: If you do have a big event coming up it is not the time to be trying new products. It’s best to stick with your tried-and-true skincare routine to avoid any potential adverse reactions.

Getting party ready:

  1. Start with a clean canvas: before applying makeup, ensure your face is clean and moisturised.
  2. Prime your skin: Apply a makeup primer to create a smooth base for your foundation and help your makeup last longer.
  3. Conceal imperfections: Use a concealer to cover any blemishes, dark circles, or redness. Blend it well for a seamless finish.
  4. Choose the right foundation: Of course, select a foundation that matches your skin tone, but also consider your skin type. Do you want a foundation that is mattifying or hydrating? If it’s a long night ahead look for a long-wear matte foundation.

Our Favourite: Sothys Treatment Liquid Foundations - mineral based to provide the perfect finish whilst treating the skin at the same time.

  1. Set with a powder: dust a translucent setting powder over your foundation and concealer to lock everything in place and minimise shine.
  2. Define your brows: Fill in your brows with a pencil or powder to define their shape and frame your face.
  3. Add a little colour to your cheeks: Apply a flattering blush to the apples of your cheeks to add a natural flush of colour and definition to your face.
  4. Highlight strategy: You can also apply a highlighter to the high points of your face, such as your cheekbones, brow bones and the bridge of your nose to add a luminous glow. Lauren loves to apply highlighter to her cupid's bow; this gives the lips definition and a beautiful pout!
  5. Define your eyes: Use eyeshadow to create a captivating look. You could use shades that complement your outfit, bring out the colour of your eyes or add some drama. To open your eyes and make them appear bigger, apply lighter colours to the lid and darker colours to the crease and wing of your eyes. Add eyeliner and mascara to further define your eyes.
  6. A lip statement: If you are using natural tones for your eyes, opt for a bold lip colour that complements your overall look. Whether it’s a classic red, a deep berry or a vibrant pink, a bold lip can instantly elevate your makeup look. If you choose a dark, smoky eye a soft, glossy lip colour can be complementary and balance the makeup look.
  7. If you are trying out new techniques or products, it’s a good idea to practice your party makeup look beforehand to ensure you achieve the desired result.
  8. Have fun with your makeup! Choose products and colours that make you feel confident and comfortable.
